How to accept card payments

SumUp Plus Card Reader To accept chip cards, please insert the chip (front of card with chip facing you) into the slot at the top of the reader. To accept a card via magnetic stripe, please swipe the card (back facing you) through the bigger slot on the back of the reader.ย

You can also accept NFC payments via Google and Apple Pay with our SumUp Plus Card Reader. To accept a contactless transaction, tap the card for 1-2 seconds flat in front of the display of the reader. All your customer has to do is to authorize the payment via signature!

SumUp Pro Card Reader To accept chip cards, please insert the chip (front of card with chip facing you) into the slot at the bottom of the reader. You can also accept NFC payments via Google and Apple Pay with the SumUp Pro Card Reader. To accept a contactless transaction, please tap the card for 1-2 seconds flat in front of the display of the reader.ย

International Cards

You can also accept cards issued outside the U.S. Just make sure that the card carries a Visa, V Pay, Discover, Mastercard, Maestro or American Express logo.

If you perform a payment with an international card, the cardholder must pay their bank a fee for their currency conversion policy. This fee is charged if the currency of the country where the card was issued does not match the currency of the country in which you have registered your business with SumUp. For example, if your customer has a UK bank account and your business is located in the US, the transaction will be charged in USD, but charged from the customer's account in GBP.
